Willow Wilson, but this storyline was <em>bad<\/em>.\u00a0 About one, maybe two issue\u2019s worth of story in a four-issue bag\u2026 I think one could easily have cut\u00a0the entire issue spent fighting giant bug-monsters in a cave and the story would not have suffered for it. \u00a0I have nothing against the idea of an all-female cast as a matter of principle\u00a0\u2014 see Fearless Defenders for a great example of how to do it right \u2014 but when it comes to an X-team comprised of Storm, M, Rachel Grey, and Psylocke, they\u2019re all too bloody <em>similar<\/em>. \u00a0<em>Three<\/em> of them are telepaths, for pity\u2019s sake. \u00a0The thing about X-Men is that their <em>diversity<\/em> gives everyone something to play off with each other, be it their background, powers, motivations, or gender. \u00a0These four women, each within the context of the X-Men, just don\u2019t have enough tension or conflict to make for an engaging team dynamic. \u00a0(Hence that time Brian Wood turned Rachel into a lunatic, constantly demanding of Storm, \u201cWho went and made <em>you<\/em> leader, anyway?!\u201d) \u00a0The story ended well as they tried to reach a deranged Krakoa monster that had been\u00a0experimented on and weaponized years ago, but ended up bring forced to destroy it\u2026 but all in all, I\u2019m glad my hex took effect and brought about this series\u2019 cancellation as just one X-title too many.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Man, I hate to say it, G.
